The Encapsulation Process
Before cleaning and preparing the placenta, I perform a simple anatomy/physiology examination. I can provide you with a written report if you would like. If you choose the Traditional Chinese Method, I will lightly steam your placenta with lemon, ginger, and jalapeño, all of which are considered to be warming to your body postpartum (so I will need to be aware of any allergies you may have to these food items). After the steaming is complete, your placenta will be sliced and dehydrated. Once it is completely dehydrated, I will grind the strips into a powder and fill them into capsules. The capsules will be stored and labeled in a glass amber jar that I provide. Not only do I perform the logistical preparations of encapsulating your placenta, but I put a lot of positive energy and love into it throughout the process. Placentas need to be treated with the utmost respect, as they provided life and nourishment to your baby throughout your pregnancy. I feel that this is a ceremony of appreciation and thanks for the work the placenta has done, and will continue to do for you postpartum. I am now also offering the holistic ("raw start") method of placenta encapsulation as an option. This procedure eliminates the steaming of the placenta, and the placenta would just be cut into raw strips and placed straight in the dehydrator before grinding into capsules. We can discuss your options. Placenta Tincture Placenta tinctures are another great addition that I provide. Raw placenta is infused into a very high proof and quality liquor for 6 weeks. Vodka is typically used, so let me know of any allergies you may have. The liquid is then strained into a dropper bottle. These tinctures are potent, and are wonderful to receive 6 weeks later when you are likely finished with your placenta capsules. |
